John Muir Trail
Robert has recently returned from hiking and documenting the 230-mile John Muir trail in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains. The trail begins in Yosemite National Park, passing through Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National parks and through Sierra and Inyo National forests. The JMT passes through spectacular wilderness of 13,000- 14,000 ft. peaks, lakes and canyons absent of a crossing road for 220 miles.
The trip took over a year to prepare for, as Robert and team would carry 200 pounds of photography and filming equipment on the expedition. At mile 170 Robert encountered a severe snowstorm, and the support crew decided they could not continue. Robert continued on alone with a 55-pound pack in sometimes waist deep snow completing the last 60 miles and tallest mountain passes in fresh snow. The last evening Robert climbed by full moonlight up the sparkling 14,500 ft. Mt. Whitney to complete the John Muir Trail. Robert comments: “It was one of the most pristine and beautiful environments I have been privileged to document."
